The Matterhorn is one of the most difficult classic climbs in the Alps. Its ascent and descent on both rocky and mixed ice terrain need a good technical level and experience of climbing with and without crampons.  For someone who doesn't climb regularly the ascent may take around four hours, and the descent may be just as long.  Due to this, we offer a programme which includes both acclimatisation and technical training.  The guide will give the necessary workshops to fine tune the skills required.  The best programme for those who don't have so much experience in the Alps, and have time to do it well

PROGRAMME

Day 1: Half of the Breithorn (4164m) traverse.  We'll use the Klein Matterhorn panoramic cable car.

Day 2: Rock climbing on the south face of Riffelhorn (2928m).  We'll take the Gornergrat cog railway.

Day 3: Reaching the Hörnlihütte hut.

Day 4: Ascent of the Matterhorn (4478m) and return to Zermatt.
