Zinalrothorn (4221m) is found in a wild area of the Valais region.  Solitary, with its ridge resembling a shark's fin, it seems like the Matterhorn's younger brother, both requiring good technique when climbing up and back down the rocky and mixed terrain.  It is part of the 'Imperial Crown' mountain chain along with the Matterhorn, the Dent Blanche, Weisshorn and Obel Gabelhorn.  It gives us a clean ascent direct from Zermatt without any cable cars, and we'll meet few other rope teams on our way.  Ideal for those mountaineers who aren't looking to tick off names nor climb overcrowded alpine peaks but who'd like to summit peaks of the same quality.  During your ascent the north faces of the Matterhorn, the Obel Gabelhorn, the Wellenkuppe, the Weisshorn, the Dent Blanche, the Dent d'Herens, the Monte Rosa massif, the Allalinhorn, and the Täschhorn will be right there with you every step of the way... only for those looking for adventure.
